Our story

United Helping Hearts was founded in 2020 by Oluwabukola Abar, who was inspired by her graduate studies research on the severe need for support among women and children living in extreme poverty, particularly victims of societal violence. During her research, she realized the lack of resources and support for these vulnerable groups and understood that a non-profit could be a powerful force in uniting people passionate about alleviating the effects of poverty. This realization fueled her vision to create an organization that could directly address these critical needs by focusing on sustainable solutions and impactful, community-driven programs.

The journey to launch the organization began in 2013 when the vision was conceived, but it took several years of dedication and planning to bring it to life. In 2020, the vision became a reality with the founding of United Helping Hearts, aiming to make a difference by providing education, humanitarian aid, transitional housing, and livelihood empowerment. Through this work, the organization continues to provide opportunities for underprivileged individuals in the U.S. and Nigeria, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and self-sufficiency.
